Entries for the 2018 International Lighthouse Lightship Weekend, ILLW, are on schedule with 250 being listed so far.
Rather rare entries have been received from Bulgaria at Shabla Lighthouse, 5 entries from Cuba, 6 from Israel and 1 from Taiwan.
The Boland Amateur Radio Club are celebrating their 70th anniversary with the special call ZS70BAK from the southernmost lighthouse in South Africa, L’Agulhas (pictured here) built in 1849 it is one of the most historic lighthouses in South Africa.
If you are taking part in this year’s fun event please submit your entry as soon as possible rather than leave it until the last week.
This year we are celebrating the 21st anniversary of the ILLW and the 25th anniversary of the Northern Lights Award from which the ILLW grew.
Who would have thought 21 years ago that this popular fun event would still be attracting so many entries and at the same time publicising the state of lighthouses around the world.
